ANNFSU presses for ease in supply of fuel products

Kathmandu, March 13: CPN (UML) aligned All Nepal National Free Students' Union (ANNFSU) today encircled the Nepal Oil Corporation (NOC) central office in the capital city demanding the smooth supply of petroleum products including cooking gas in Kathmandu valley.

The students affiliated to the ANNFSU assembled in front of the NOC office at Babarmahal and called for revocation of the permission allowing Birat Petroleum Pvt Ltd (BPPL) to import petroleum products at higher rate.

ANNFSU President, Nabina Lama, blamed what she termed as 'ill intention' on part of some businessmen in causing artificial shortage of essential fuel products including cooking gas in the market. She said that allowing BPPL to sell petroleum products at rates exceeding the normal price would not be justified.

ANNFSU Vice President, Mahesh Bartaula, demanded a probe into the seeming shortage of those commodities citing the continuity of black market trading despite an increase in the import. The Union is scheduled to draw the attention of the Prime Minister towards the issue on Monday. RSS
