Dr Shekhar on lead; 2,750 votes so far counted on open category

Kathmandu, March 13: A total of 2,750 has been so far counted in the open category of the Nepali Congress central committee members under its 13th general convention.

Similarly, 1,400 votes were counted under the category of provincial central members.

Out of the votes counted till Sunday evening, Dr Shekhar Koirala is leading with 1,615 votes. Khum Bahadur Khadka, Prakashman Singh, Pradeep Poudel and Kul Bahadur are following Koirala with 1,608, 1,575, 1,506 and 1,547, respectively.

Likewise, Pradip Giri has so far secured 1, 502 votes while Dhanraj Gurung, Bal Krishna Khand, Ramesh Lekhak, Purna Bahadur Khadka, Mahesh Acharya, Bal Bahadur KC, Bimalendra Nidhi and Dr Ram Sharan Mahat have received 1,489, 1,480, 1,479, 1,477, 1,465, 1,463, 1,454 and 1,425 votes.

Sujata Koirala has gathered 1,416 votes. Bishwo Prakash Sharma (1413), Shankar Bhandari (1354), NP Saud (1343), Badri Pandey (1319), Gopalman Shrestha (1308), Gyanendra Bahadur Karki (1300), Dr Prakash Sharan Mahat (1292), Dr Narayan Khadka (1279), Chandra Bhandari (1295)and Dr Minendra Rijal (1261) are within the rank of 25 members, said Secretary of the Election Committee, Pradeep Parajuli.

Out of 3161 votes, 3,148 votes were cast in the national convention held for new leadership of the NC, he added.

Ninety candidates filed their nominations for 25 posts of central committee members under open category while 67 candidates for 14 seats of seven provinces.

Gururaj Ghimire and Bhismaraj Aangdembe from province no 1 are leading with 603 and 537 votes respectively while Ananda Prasad Dhungana and Ramesh Rijal from province no 2 have received 656 and 634 votes.

Nabindra Raj Joshi has received 573 and Mohan Bahadur Basnet is with 479 votes from province no 3 while Govinda Bhattarai and Surendra Pandey from province no 4 are leading with 549 and 555 votes respectively.

Likewise, Deepak Giri has received 658 and Devendra Raj Kandel has secured 567 votes from province no 5, according to the Committee.

Hridayeram Thani and Jeevan Bahadur Shahifrom province no 6 has got 736 and 666 votes respectively while Dilendra Prasad Badu and Bir Baahdur Balayer are leading with 715 and 623 votes from province no 7. RSS
