GAESO demands details of Gurkhas disappeared in world wars

Pokhara, March 20: Gurkha Army Ex-Servicemen Organization (GAESO) has demanded details of the Gurkhas who were disappeared while fighting on behalf of Britain in the World War 1 and 2.

At a press conference, GAESO Chairperson Padma Bahadur Gurung demanded Nepal's Ministry of Foreign Affairs to provide with factual details about the Gurkhas to their families who are still uninformed of the whereabouts.

He shared that an information request was made at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in line with the Right to Information (RTI) Act seeking comprehensive status of the missing Gurkhas -- whether they are dead or still alive and even if dead when and where they were killed.

Journalist Hum Gurung said that the widowed family and helpless children of Gurkha ex-servicemen have been deprived of their rights and entitlements though the formers had laid down their lives in the first and second world wars. RSS
