Gamblers and swindlers in police net

Itahari, March 14: At least five gamblers fell into police net along with six packs of playing cards and Rs 90,500 in cash following a raid at a sawmill in Itahari Sub- Metropolis – 5. The police acted on a tip off and raided the mill run by Kailash Limbu, who is a resident of Itahari Sub Metropolis – 8.

The arrestees will be tried under the Gambling Act, 2020 and are under custody at the Area Police Office, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), Om Prasad Adhikari, informed at a press briefing today.

Meanwhile, two persons were arrested for swindling people under the pretext of exchanging USD. The Area Police Office, Sunsari made the arrest Deepak Magar and Ram Bahadur Magar, and confiscated US $ 42, Rs 42, 500 and a motorbike (Ba 29 Pa) from them.

The Magar duo were arrested while on the lam after exchanging fake US currency notes for Rs 150,000 with Ganesh Rai, 24, of Gaurdaha – 9 of Jhapa and Dillip Khanal, 25, of Phaitappa –5 of Ilam, said DSP Adhikari. RSS
