Geologist team assigned to study iron ore deposit in Nawalparasi

Kawasoti (Nawalparasi), March 16: A team of geologists from the Department of Mines and Geology has been assigned to carry out a study at Dhauwadi in Nawalparasi, where iron ore deposit has been discovered.

An official team from the department reached the area to explore mineral deposits including coal, recovered the iron ore deposit some six years ago.  The iron deposit is considered to be the largest of its kind.

The officials said that 200 million tonnes of iron ore might be there in the deposit. The ore is worth more than Rs 2,300 billion.

Following that finding, the department deployed a team to carry out a study. The department said that the work of exploration and excavation would start after the study and survey.

Director General at the department Sarbajit Prasad Mahato said that the study and survey of the area would be complete by the end of current fiscal year. RSS
