I save newspapers which wrote for people's movement: Minister Rai

Kathmandu, March 20: Minister for Information and Communications, Sherdhan Rai, has said he was holding discussions with the concerned associations in order to save the print media which played positive role during the people's movement.

Minister Rai made such remark while receiving a 16-point memorandum submitted by a team of daily newspapers' national network. He added that efforts were on for the proportional distribution of advertisement.

The taskforce on Mass Media Directive-2072 would study the entire national media landscape and bring forth a new policy soon.

"It's my priority to provide public welfare advertisement and proportional advertisement in line with the new policy," he assured.

The team led by Network Chairman JP Gupta Mayalu made the Minister aware that many small media were on the verge of collapse due to the border blockade. The government should provide special relief to the newspapers run on small investment. RSS
