Kathmandu, March 19: A new internet site and mobile app were launched today with an aim to facilitate public access to medical service.

Minister for Information and Communications, Sherdhan Rai, launched the online portal, www.hamrodoctor.com and the mobile app created by the Best Media Creation.

On the occasion, Minister Rai stressed on economic progress with maximum utilization of the broadening base of information in the backdrop of the promulgation of the new constitution. "This online site and app will be useful at a time when everyone's focus has been riveted on transparency, accountability and good governance," Minister Rai said.

Minister Rai admitted that the access of information is yet to trickle through to the common people and added that the Information Ministry was striving to reform its quality.

The Minister further noted what he termed as a 'huge decadence' plaguing the Nepal's online media sector. The Ministry will formulate an online directive to stop such decadence, Minister Rai said.

Nepal Medical Association Chairman, Dr Anjani Kumar Jha, said the app would play a significant role in advancing Nepal's health sector.

The app will provide information on all the hospitals in the country, doctors' list, hospitals' health related service, doctors' schedule, pharmacy information, ambulance, clinics, blood donation and details on illness and diseases. RSS
