NC determined for press freedom: Deuba

Kathmandu, March 14: Newly elected President of the Nepali Congress, Sher Bahadur Deuba, has said that his party was committed to democracy and press freedom.

Talking to a team of the Federation of the Nepali Journalists (FNJ) at his residence at Budhanilkantha, Deuba said democracy and the future of journalist would be at risk if there was restriction on press freedom.

He said, "NC is committed to protect press freedom, personal freedom and right to expression and save democracy. There is no doubt on it."

Congratulating Deuba on his election to the NC President, FNJ Chairman Dr Mahendra Bista urged Deuba to take initiatives for the economic change in the country.

The FNJ also urged the NC to support on various issues including the implementation of the Working Journalist Act, said Secretary Dhruba Lamsal. RSS
