Noose tightens against illegal excavation

Pathari (Morang), March 16: The District Forest Office (DFO), Morang has tightened its noose against the haphazard excavation taking place in various forests in Morang district.

The Office has been increasing patrolling inside the forest area round the clock since the wanton excavation for soil and aggregates has posed environmental threats to the forests.

Furthermore, an awareness campaign has been launched in the local community to conserve forests at the local level.

The forest office has arrested 78 persons involved in illegal excavation of soil and aggregates from various rivers and streams flowing through the forest. Of them, cases have been registered against 34.

In addition, 25 vehicles used for ferrying the excavated soils and aggregate have been taken under control, according to the DFO, Morang. RSS
