Piled-up dead bodies picked after a month

Rupandehi (Tilottama), March 31: The Butwal Sub-Metropolitan City on Wednesday managed the corpses that have been piled up at Lumbini Zonal Hospital, Butwal, for the past one month.

The hospital surrounding was stinking for no disposal of 12 dead bodies kept in the zonal hospital since February 27. With the pile-up of dead bodies one after another it was a trouble for hospital to manage space, the hospital sources said.

Chief Executive of Butwal Sub-Metropolis Dhruba Bahadur Khadka shared that the dead bodies that have been placed in the hospital for the past one month were properly managed on Wednesday.

The corpses were managed by arranging a temporary space and the search for the permanent land for the same is underway, Khadka said.

There are only six mortuary chambers in Butwal-based Lumbini Zonal Hospital so the hospital was compelled to keep the dead bodies open at mortuary home.

The Butwal Sub-Metropolis has not been able to pick the dead bodies due to space limit for the past one month though it used to bury the unidentified dead bodies gathered at the hospital in Butwal-4, Mainabagar.

According to Spokesperson of Lumbini Zonal Hospital Butwal Laxmi Raj Regmi, 11 out of total 12 dead bodies kept at the hospital were picked and a dead body is yet to be managed.

In the last fiscal year the municipality had managed 101 dead bodies kept at the hospital while it is so far 28 in the current fiscal. RSS
