Rocket attack rocks near Afghan parliament in Kabul

KABUL, March 28 :(Xinhua)  Casualties were feared Monday as a rocket attack rocked near the Afghan parliament building in western Kabul, witnesses said.

"Some three rockets were landed near new parliament building at around 10:15 a.m. (local time). At least one rocket struck inside the building's yard, sending a black smoke in the air," witness Mohammad Safa told Xinhua.
"We still cannot provide details on causalities. But the initial investigation found no one was hurt as a result of the attack inside the parliament compound," a security source told Xinhua. More details would be made public later as investigation is going on, the source added.
The members of the Wolesi Jirga, the Lower House of the parliament, were holding a meeting when the incident took place. Further details about the incident are still forthcoming amid the absence of official statement. So far, no one has claimed responsibility for the attack, but the Taliban militant group has launched similar attacks in the past.
