South African, Indian arrested with narcotics worth Rs 50 million

Kathmandu, March 28: Police on Monday arrested Mpathoni Masne, a South African national holding a passport with number A 04668043 and Mersi of Nagaland, India for possessing cocaine worth approximately Rs 54 million.

The narcotics drugs control bureau, Koteshwar apprehended them from Thamel. The police confiscated total 2.722 Kg cocaine hidden in Shampoo bottles from them - 1.939 Kg from Masne and 0.799 Kg from Mersi.

Police investigation showed that Masne traveled to Brazil from Johannesburg of South Africa via Dubai on March 14 to bring the contraband and arrived Kathmandu via Dubai with the cocaine on March 24. He had reached Brazil on March 15.

It is stated that they were preparing to take the cocaine to Intaly, the Netherlands and other European countries via New Delhi, India. In course of the investigation, police have found that gangs involved in drug crime from various countries were involved in this and further investigation in that connection was ongoing in coordination with the law enforcement agencies of the countries concerned.

Similarly, police arrested Mukunda Shrestha and Sagar Shrestha with 10 grammes brown sugar from local Banasthali, Balaju today. Mukunda is from Mangalpur-1, Chitwan and Sagar from Raniban of Kathmandu. RSS
