Use of illegal drone-cameras by tourists increasing

Mustang, April 4: An increasing number of tourists coming for trekking on the Round-Annapurna trek are found using illegal drone-cameras.

The incidents came to light when two foreign tourists were found taking pictures and videos using drone-cameras for which they had not obtained permission from the authorities. Police arrested Michael and Aja Tosar from Lomangthang on December 2, 2015 and an Unkranian Domitrov Polikal from Ghorepani area on March 17 using the illegal drone-cameras.

Police confiscated drone sets, remote control, two sets of batteries and memory cards from them.

The tourists coming here for enjoying the natural beauty and local culture were found taking photos and videos with drone-cameras.

The government issued a directive on the use of drone-cameras in November last year after the domestic and foreign tourists were caught taking videos and photos of sensitive places using the drone-cameras, especially after the April 25 earthquake.

One has to take permission from the local authorities for using the drone-cameras. RSS
