Landslide disrupt several rural roads

Melamchi, July 29: Most of the rural roads of Sindhupalchowk district have been obstructed due to monsoon-induced landslides.

The Melamchi-Nawalpur-Chautara road linking the district headquarters has been on hold for the past couple of weeks because of landslide occurred nearby Jhyadi rivulet. Likewise, passengers travelling to Gunsa and Bhotang are also bearing the brunt of recurring landslide that has disrupted the vehicular movement on the road section, said locals.

Dhruba Giri, a local of Duwachaur Keurani, said they have been compelled to walk for hours to purchase most essential and daily consumptive goods due to road disruption.

The road leading to Baruwa from Melamchi via Banskharka is ever disrupted in the monsoon which got the Baruwa dwellers walked a whole day to reach to Melamchi Bazaar for daily affairs, said Pasang Tamang, a social activist of Banskharka.

Police Inspector at Area Police Office, Barhabise, Raju Pandey said the flood occurred at Bhotekoshi River in Jambu along the Araniko Highway has eroded the road section resulting in the disruption of vehicular movements.


Likewise, the continuous mudslide at Jure has also been obstructing the vehicular movement on the road. The situation of road from Jirokilo to Melamchi under the Helambu road section is also quite disturbing. RSS
