Prez Bhandari appoints 11 judges to Apex Court

Kathmandu, Aug 1: President Bidya Devi Bhandari today has appointed 11 justices to the Supreme Court.  Chief Justice Sushila Karki administered the oath of office and secrecy to them amid a function in the presence of the President Bhandari at Sheetal Niwas.
   
Also present on the occasion were Vice President Nanda Bahadur Pun, Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli, Speaker Onsari Gharti, Ministers Chiefs of Constitutional Bodies, Chief Secretary Dr Somlal Subedi, Attorney General Hari Phunyal, justices at the Supreme and Appellate Courts, Secretaries at the different Ministries and Chiefs of the Security Bodies.  

Newly appointed justices are Deep Kumar Karki, Kedar Prasad Chalise, Sharada Prasad Ghimire, Mira Khadka, Bishwambar Prasad Shrestha, Ishwar Prasad Khatiwada, Dr Ananda Mohan Bhattarai, Hari Krishna Karki, Anil Kumar Sinha, Prakash Man Singh Raut and Sapana Pradhan Malla.

 It is learnt that they will assume the office today itself.

They were recommended by the Judicial Council on 1 March 2016 and endorsed by the Parliamentary Hearing Special Committee (PHSC) on Sunday.  RSS
