7,000 drug users in Jhapa

(Kakadbhitta) Jhapa, March 19: The number of drug users has reached as high as 7,000 in Jhapa district, the District Police Office said.

Chief of the Office, Thakur Prasad Gyawali, said that the 6,800 drug users including 224 women were counted in the fiscal year 2069/70 BS. It is believed that the number of the narcotics drug users could have gone up in the recent years.

Likewise, the District Police Office is organising a campaign against drug use aiming to end violence against women on March 21 in Birtamod, Jhapa.

Organising a news conference on Friday, Gyawali said that the campaign is being jointly organised from the Mechi Zonal Office of Nepal Police, District Police Office, Jhapa, and the community police service centres in Jhapa. RSS
