Facebook posting helps police thwart suicide attempt

Kathmandu, March 11: In a strange incident of its sort, police have saved the life of a youth who apparently was about to take his own life after posting a suicide note on his Facebook wall.

Right after the post, the Facebook Ireland investigated profile of the man and informed Nepal Police about the incident at around 1 pm today.

And following the information, Nepal Police acted and saved the life of the youth by providing necessary counselling to him.

A team led by Inspector Pashupati Kumar Raya from the Metropolitan Police Crime Investigation Division in Kathmandu was assigned to investigate the incident.

The division also sought help from Jhapa police to locate the contact of the boy and counsel him.

According to the investigation, the boy who attempted to commit suicide is from Jhapa and studying in Bachelor’s level.

The boy after returning to a normal condition, thanked police for saving his life and pledged not to repeat such reckless act again. RSS
