Journalists should be watchdog to all: NC General-Secretary Koirala

Kathmandu, March 15: Newly elected General Secretary of the Nepali Congress (NC), Dr Sashank Koirala, has spoken of the need for the journalists to play the role of a watchdog to society, political parties and government at large.


At a programme organized by the Nepal Press Union here Tuesday, NC General-Secretary Koirala argued that the journalists should discharge their duties being mindful of impact of their work.

Assessing the recently held 13th National Convention of the party a huge success, Koirala pressed for unity within the party that enjoys the virtue of being the oldest and biggest democratic stalwart in the country.

He was quick to add that NC was in favor of political stability as the party acknowledges the importance of political stability for the development.

Koirala was of the opinion that he, as the newly elected General-Secretary, has to play a key role for forging unity among various factions within the Party.

Recalling the sacrifice and contribution of BP Koirala, one of the founding members of NC and freedom fighters, Koirala pointed out the need for the Congress people to safeguard the democracy in the country.

Also speaking on the occasion, NC newly elected central working committee member Dilendra Prasad Badu pledged that the party would shoulder the responsibility for the effective implementation of new constitution.

Talking to the National News Agency (RSS) at his own residence, Badu reaffirmed that it was the reasonability of the NC to play the role in helping country made headway for economic development with political stability.

He stated that the NC had the calibre to rope one and all in a thread and move ahead by forging consensus for the greater good of the country. According to him, the incumbent government failed to manage the expectation of the public. RSS
