Nepal to sign a new petro deal with China during PM visit

Kathmandu, March 17:  Nepal is expected to sign a new deal on the import of petroleum products and transit trade with China during Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli's upcoming China visit.

Speaking at an interaction on 'Condition of current market and consumers' rights' organised by Consumer Eye Nepal here Thursday, Supplies Minister Ganeshman Pun said the signing of an agreement would help address  problems seen in the fuel supply in the country.

Stating that the government was about to form a consumers' rights division to control black market flourishing in the country, Minister Pun said the government felt the necessity of forming such body to control black market, sale of adulterated goods and uncontrolled price rise of daily commodities.

Also speaking on the occasion, Kathmandu Metropolitan Office Director Hari Kumar Shrestha stressed that the government should continue with market supervision and action to control black market running unabated in the country.

Human Rights Council Chair Tulasi Thapa and Consumer Eye President Bimala Khanal expressed concern over artificial market price hike and demanded that the government ensure the smooth supplies system. RSS
