Kathmandu, July 31: The meeting today of the Parliamentary Hearing Special Committee (PHSC) has decided to seek information about the Cabinet's decision regarding the appointment of ambassadors to various 22 countries.
The meeting also decided to summon Chief Secretary and Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to its next meeting to discuss the Cabinet's decision to send the proposed names of the ambassadors to the respective countries for approval before conducting a parliamentary hearing.
Meanwhile, the meeting decided to make public the complaints the committee received against the proposed names of the ambassadors.
Earlier, the government had sent the names of the ambassadors for parliamentary hearing. Those proposed for post of ambassadors to various 22 countries include Sewa Lamsal Adhikari, Tara Prasad Pokharel, Prakash Kumar Subedi, Rishiram Ghimire, Ramesh Khanal, Jhabindra Prasad Aryal, Dr Durga Bahadur Subedi and Lok Bahadur Thapa, who are officials of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Likewise, those proposed for the posts from outside the foreign service include Mahendra Bahadur Pandey, Dr Khadga Bahadur KC, Dr Narad Nath Bharadwaj Wagle, Dr Shiva Maya Tumbahanphe, Aliaktar Mikarani, Yubraj Karki, Yubanath Lamsal, Prof. Dr Mahendra Prasad Singh Rajput, Padam Sundas, Lakki Sherpa, Khagendra Bashnyat, Bharat Bahadur Rayamajhi, Niranjan Kumar Thapa and Sharmila Parajuli Dhakal.
Meanwhile, the meeting also expressed serious concern over the act of the Judicial Council to propose the names of 11 people for the posts of Justice of the Supreme Court by violating the hierarchy.
It also decided to inform the Council about the concerns raised in the meeting to correct the hierarchy as per the required order based on the norms and regulations for the same. RSS
